As The Seasons Shift So Do My Priorities
Sep 29, 2026It's well and truly Autumn here in N Ireland. The temperatures have dropped and I'm feeling the rush of Autumn again.
Cooler mornings. Shorter days. And the demands that my wardrobe is placed under.
Cosy knits have been put back into my everyday wardrobe. Whites replaced by warmer shades. Linens tucked away and fair isles, tweeds, boots and wax coats taking a front seat.
I've been avidly watching New York Fashion Week on and while the majority are couture designers, I can't help but feel inspired by all the hard work and sheer creativity that goes into every outfit, every model and the entire orchestration of a single product, from first sketch of the design to being shown catwalk. It's truly mesmerising.
It's also a world away from the life I live and the clothes I wear. I've only just begun to enjoy fashion again after feeling completely lost for quite a few years.
I'm now loving the process of reworking my wardrobe and the freedom it brings to experiment and explore.
I shop on resonance. I've never heard this anywhere before so I'lll try to explain what I mean.
I buy clothes that make me feel something. You know the saying, 'it's made for you' - THIS!
Like the recent dress I purchased that bugged me for months, until I bought it.
Some part of me knew it was the perfect dress and that I would love wearing it - that part was correct.
I styled it as soon as it arrived with a new faux fur taupe jacket (bought locally), my favourite Regina suede boots and a Tusting taupe structured bag. These pieces you won't just see me wear once. I'll be repeatedly wearing them unapologetically.
When something works for me, it's a recipe that I'll tweak a little but I'll never start from scratch.
The recipe; Maxi dress. Long suede boots. Feminine jacket. Structured bag.

Seasonal Wellness Shifts
I love my morning coffee outside. Either on the doorstep or with my face in the sun. This is known to help the body find its natural rhythm.
I've been trying to go to bed earlier at night, I've started taking Vitamin C again in my morning protein shake and I'm sticking to eating whole foods as much as possible.
For warm Autumn snacks I love making cinnamon-roasted pecans or cinnamon apple crisps.
Simple nourishing dinners like stew, roast dinners and soft fruit crumbles like this one I made on Sunday - Which was delicious! I've tagged the recipe I followed in the comments. Or here.
I'm continuing to take my Wild Nutrition supplements which have been a game-changer for helping to balance my hormones.
I also cleared out my pantry, threw out everything that was out-of-date, mostly spices and herbs and did a restock with Autumn recipes in mind. I found this organic coconut milk that's perfect for soups and curries.

Just For Me
Following on from my holiday where I read three books (previous blog here) I've been making time to read more.
I finished reading this book, The Force Of Such Beauty and it hit deep. I won't give anything away because the reason I finished it was because I was keen to see what happened and so I purposely didn't read the reviews! It's a lengthy read but worth it.
I'm starting to read this book which is different again and so intriguing as it explores the life of a style icon.
Saying 'no' to opportunities that no longer align and things that I always said 'yes' to, out of guilt. For example, just because I've said 'yes' before, doesn't mean that I'm obliged again.
This is truly where I've gained more insight and knowing about myself as a person and gained even more respect for myself.
I went to see Mamma Mia the musical with my daughter and her friend. I'm now 'that teenager's mum' who does concerts and musicals. It was a fabulous night and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you're still reading this, I invite you to do something that's just for you, it will become your favourite thing to do!
